Sam Montgomery Wins AFT D72 Tournament on Lake Sinclair

Sam Montgomery of Milledgeville, Georgia, claimed victory at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 72 tournament held on February 8, 2025, at Lake Sinclair. Montgomery brought a five-bass limit to the scales, weighing in at an impressive 18.53 pounds. His performance earned him the first-place trophy and a cash prize of $813. Additionally, he secured the tournament’s Big Bass award with a 6.64-pound largemouth, winning an extra $510 and the Big Bass trophy. His total earnings for the day amounted to $1,323.

Josh George of Loganville, Georgia, finished in second place with a five-bass limit totaling 17.85 pounds. George caught a notable 6.41-pound bass and received the second-place trophy along with $562 in prize money.

A total of 51 anglers competed for payouts across the top eight spots, with a prize pool of $2,499. The top ten anglers are as follows:

Following the official awards ceremony, additional prizes were distributed to attendees. Brian Hyde and Les Charles each won $50 cash, while Carl Wilson took home a $100 gift certificate for a custom wooden flag courtesy of Captain Kidd’s Designs.

The success of the event was made possible thanks to volunteers Bob Clark, Les Charles, and David Mitchell, who assisted with boat checks, registration, and weigh-ins.
