2025 Team of the Year Race

How ABA Team of the Year is Determined

The American Bass Anglers (ABA) Team Series honors the most consistent and competitive teams each season with the prestigious Team of the Year (TOY) title. This award is based on a detailed points system that rewards strong finishes throughout the season and culminates at the National Championship.

Points System Overview

  • One-Day Divisional Events:
First-place teams earn 250 points, with a 1-point decrease per position. Teams not weighing fish receive 100 show points. While teams can fish as many one-day events as they wish, only their best four finishes will count toward their total.
  • Two-Day Divisional Championships:
These events award 500 points to first place, decreasing by 2 points per position. Teams not weighing fish receive 200 points. Only the best two-day finish is included in the final points tally.

Qualifications & Rankings

  • Championship Eligibility:
Teams must fish a minimum of four one-day events to qualify for a two-day Divisional Championship.
  • Divisional TOY:
Each division’s TOY is determined by points earned in four one-day events and the two-day championship within that division.

Team of the Year Title

All Divisional TOY teams are invited to compete in the ABA Team Series National Championship. The highest-finishing TOY team at this event will be crowned the ABA Team Series Team of the Year.

Tiebreaker

24.8     TIEBREAKERS:

Ties will be broken using the following criteria:

a)    The largest number of legal fish weighed.
b)    The largest number of legal live fish weighed.
c)    Most Accumulative weight for the year
d)    If the tie is not broken by applying the preceding procedures, place monies will be split evenly, and place points will be awarded accordingly. Event winners’ tiebreakers may result in a fish-off.

Team of the Year Prize

As a reward for their outstanding performance, the Team of the Year will receive a free package entry for the 2026 ABA Team Series season of their choice.

A Package entry consists of four one-day team events and one divisional championship entry fee.

This system rewards consistency, skill, and dedication, giving teams across the country a fair and competitive path to one of ABA’s most respected titles.
